Blue Jay Fly
Blue Jay Fly Poem
Pinnate compound leaves hold lamina arranged on a mid vein.
Ash trees in my garden struggle for life over photosynthesis.
Leaf torn from a petiole dies faster than a family together in pain.
Green perfumes of mint, thyme, and weeds without bitterness.
hear them?
see birds fly?
ask why?
But what they need is fine example, water, and sunlight.
Every sunrise I share the rosary in whispered prayer.
Devoting to Mary the blue jay's call for clear foresight.
hear them?
see birds fly?
ask why?
Is there a day we stop worrying for our offspring?
I ask this, little bird as you eat peanuts and sing

Holy Fire
Holy Fire
Wildfire clouds
#Holyfire threats during the day
less worrisome than red night sky
what do we put in the emergency go box?
Passports, photographs, artwork my children
created for Christmas, not much else fits.
Perhaps all we need is two outfits and
the books, and art can be recreated.
If I painted the eclipse once,
I can repeat the
pattern, right?
caused by bad water management.
The Climate Changed, the heat index
has dried up old growth trees to make
the bark susceptible to beetles, disease
and death.
praying for fog tonight.
Update the arrested a man Forest Gordon Clark who by arson and mean
heart set the fire. From what I gather he's the guy who screamed at neighbors
daily for imagined faults. He has big signs about surveillance.
He burned his neighbor's homes.
Don't say he's crazy, that is easy, he is a black heart.
I hope he goes somewhere the heat index drys him out.
I spent the last two days packing and moving, no sleep.

Review don't Worry He won't Get Far On Foot
Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot
Disappointing is all I can say.
Gus Van Zant uses a mixed up timeline and the hair color of
characters to indicate a story.
Tries to be funny with a cliche rich gay Jonah Hill in his
living room of hideous heirlooms from his grandparents.
Tries to tackle recovery and addiction with reciting
the AA 12 step program to happiness.
Tries to make us fall in love with Rooney Mara as
the nurse turned air stewardess. she's to fragile to
believe her falling for a guy with a stinking hangover
in a wheelchair.
Joaquin Phoenix's dialogue is awkward at best.
We want to like him as a hero but find ourselves
not caring much about the narrative.
I know it's based on a true story but is too heavy handed
on sentimentality, unsharpened humor and cliches.

Lavender Scrub Recipe
The skin on my hands is cracked.
Summer gardening and caring for animals on the ranch dug furrows in the skin.
I keep a stainless dog bowl up on a birdbath to rinse my hands by the greenhouse door.
The sun heats the water and the blue jays steal a drink, though they have a birdbath of their own.
I keep a jar of lavender scrub that is in a recycle honey jar. I don't wash out the honey or crystals and find the honey bits are antibacterial
Here is the recipe:
1/2 cup coarse sugar
1 tablespoon sea salt
1/4 cup organic coconut oil
4 drops of lavender oil
2 tablespoons of lavender flowers
approximate teaspoon of honey
although I have many pairs of gloves I never seem to get them on my hands before I begin. There is always just one little dead-head I want to clip.
When my hands are dirty, I scoop a bit of the scrub under my nails and rinse with water. This procedure repeats several times a day.

Goddess of Poetry
oil on canvas by
Philip Mercier
Goddess of Poetry
The painter was born in Berlin, of French ancestry, worked in England for Frederick, Prince of Wales.
Sentimental idea of a writer casually thinking, with her
shirt or slip falling off...
